What Circumcision is All About
In male circumcision, there is surgery involved, and it is aimed at removing the foreskin that covers that tip of the male organ. The foreskin which is also known as the prepuce is a naturally occurring skin at the tip of the male organ and it is retractable. The religious beliefs, culture, preferences, and personal beliefs are some of the influences of male circumcision. The circumcision procedure can be done to a male child before they leave the hospital. Statistics have also shown that a majority of the male population were circumcised while they were still in hospital as new born. There are three leading factors that promote the circumscision of male children before leaving the hospital, and these reasons include tradition, religion, and for hygiene.
There might be pressure from the society on why there is need to have circumcision and that is what makes parents to carry on with the procedure and the other reason is to adhere to the traditions of the family. Since long time ago, male circumcision continues to be practiced, and it has been embraced by many communities in the world. Doctors and other medical personnel agree that there are many benefits of cutting the prepuce of the male reproductive organ. One of the benefits on why you need to get circumcised is so that you will not get the infections that are normally linked to the urinary tract. The ratio of boys who will get tract infections is low than those of the uncircumcised. There is also another condition that is known as penile cancer, and it mainly affects boys who are not circumcised.
Sexually transmitted infections are more common among the group of men that have not cut their prepuce or foreskin. Good hygiene of the male organ means that the foreskin needs to be cut and that is the reason that makes such men be at risk of contracting some of the diseases or infections. With the prepuce, there is a high risk of having an inflammation that can lead to the tightening and hence closure of the opening of the male organ and this can be avoided when there is circumcision. Uncircumcised men might have certain infections hidden in their prepuce, and they might end up transmitting to their partners.
For children to be circumcised, it is not normally their wish, but that of their parents and what drives the parents to do that varies from one to another. When you are finally in the same position, you will need to make the decision if the child will be circumcised or not and that decision needs to be arrived at with the help of your partner. Therefore, you both need to think about this matter before you arrive at the conclusion.
